Throw Back Thursday Children Shows

As many of you know I usually take part in Just A Small Town Girl's Thursday Throw Back. This thursdays idea is inspired by Lilly. As a mom I find it amusing that a lot of shows that Lilly likes have a link back to what I watched as a child. So the first show I liked was one of my mom's favourite childhood shows....

That's right Mr Rodger's Neighbourhood! Recently Lilly outgrew Sesame Street and started watching a new show. It's called Daniel Tigers Neighbourhood. You will notice some familiar characters like Trolly, and Prince Wednesday. Than there is of course that catchy tune that has been reinvented to match the new series. Honestly my favourite thing is the fact the incorporate Mr. Rodgers sweaters in it.

A show that follows Daniel Tigers Neighbourhood is Thomas The Tank Engine. Lilly loves watching Thomas, Emily, Henry, Toby and the rest of the cast go about their duty on Sodor. Their goal is to be really useful engines.
I find the show amusing but I can't help but think back to The Thomas The Tank Engine I loved growing up. My father is from England and to say this was a favourite is an understatement. (I even own a novel of all the Thomas stories) Here is a video of the ThomasI grew up on with Ringo Starr narrating it. (Yes, the drummer of the Beatles. Another staple in our household).
 Hope these refreshed your memory!

  1. Sadly, I did not enjoy Mr. Rogers as a child...it was only after I had my own children that I learned to really like it. I guess I had to grow up to appreciate it :-) My favorite...Captain Kangaroo. Especially the chalk drawing part.

  2. Aw, Mr. Rogers! I watched that show. I pretty much watched everything that came on PBS back in the day because we didn't have cable/satellite. Thanks for linking up!
